There are moments that stop time.

Moments when life grips you by the shoulders, looks you straight in the eye, 

and whispers —
"Are you truly living?"

For me, that moment came in June 2025, a month before my 42nd birthday 

where i developed a very large lump on my neck,

one doctor’s appointment that turned my world upside down,

a cancer scare.

For three excruciating weeks, I lived in a fog of uncertainty 

and cried to myself continuously 

not knowing if I had days, weeks, months or years left.
Every heartbeat sounded louder.
Every sunset felt like it might be the last one I’d see.

I tried to stay strong, but inside… I was terrified and hiding away from everyone.

There’s a strange silence that comes when you stare mortality in the face.
It strips away all the noise, the deadlines, the plans, the 'one days.'
And it leaves you with only the truth.

And my truth was this:
I had spent years building a life… but not truly living the one i really wanted.

I had poured my heart into my equestrian career, businesses, and a life of security, but I had never stopped to ask myself what freedom meant to me.

When the storm passed and the results came back clear, I fell apart.
Not from fear this time — but from gratitude.
From relief.

From the weight of a second chance.

And in that moment, I made a promise:
To live boldly, to follow my heart,

and to help others find the courage to do the same.

That promise became The Digital Nomad Network.

My story begins in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa in 1983, where the sky stretches endlessly and the earth smells like rain and wild grass.
It’s where I first learned the meaning of freedom — astride a horse, racing across open land, the wind tangling my hair, my heart thundering in rhythm with hooves.

Horses were my first love, my teachers, my sanctuary.

That love became my life’s work.

I became a veterinary nurse, a BHS-qualified instructor,  an AOFA qualified level 3 paramedic and a voice for the voiceless — dedicating over 25 years to rescuing and rehoming ex-racehorses across South Africa and the UK. I’ve worked with world-class trainers, Royal stables, and elite show-jumping teams, to international yards across South Africa and the UK.

I’ve watched broken creatures learn to trust again.
I’ve seen fear turn into freedom, pain into power.

And I realised — I wasn’t just helping horses heal.
They were healing me. 🐎💙

Then, in 2024, something unexpected found me again — music.

It started as a side project with me owning and managing a UK radio station, but quickly became something more — something soulful, electric, alive.

Learning how to DJ and being behind the decks, I felt that same pulse I’d felt as a child in the saddle — that wild, unstoppable freedom.

Music became my heartbeat.
My expression.
My bridge to people everywhere I went.

Now, as I travel, music is how I connect — playing sets under open skies, clubs, beaches, rooftops, festivals and retreats, where strangers become family and rhythm becomes language.

Because music, like travel, reminds us that we’re all connected.
We’re all searching for the same thing — to feel alive. 🎶✨

After everything — the reinventions, the detours, the healing — I knew I wanted to create something bigger than myself.

So myself and me dearest friend Andy built The Digital Nomad Network and also started a travel agency business — not as a business, but as a movement.

When I met Andy about a year ago, neither of us were in a good place. We were both searching — for meaning, for peace, for ourselves. But somehow, life brought us together right when we needed it most.

Together, we’ve created a new life — one that feeds our souls, full of passion, freedom, and adventure.

The Digital Nomad Network is a place for the dreamers and the doers.
The ones who crave freedom more than comfort.
The ones who believe life should be felt, not just planned.

Because this is what freedom looks like.
This is what living looks like.

Every chapter of my life — from childhood to the stables, from boardrooms to beaches and all the in-betweens — has taught me how precious this life is.

My health scare changed everything.
It stripped away fear and replaced it with clarity.

I stopped chasing perfection.
I started chasing sunrises across the globe,
and I learned that success isn’t about money, titles, or validation, as none of that goes with you to the grave —
It’s about inner peace.

It’s about waking up each morning and whispering,
“Thank you. I get another day.”

That’s what drives me now — to help others create a life that feels full, 

fearless, and free.

 Do you feel bogged down, unfulfilled, as if you’re stuck on a hamster wheel?

This was me for many years.

My hometown in middle England was flat, unexceptional, and lacklustre, the kind of place where it was considered normal to work on a conveyer belt 

your whole life until retirement.

I wanted more, so I joined the military as soon as I left school, this afforded me a level of independence and some interesting experiences, however it wasn’t nourishing my soul, so I got out, moved to Cornwall and began 

training as a builder. 

I eventually became well versed in the whole industry, and worked to high standards in all trades, specialising in carpentry, 

and working as a chef during quiet times in construction, 

but still my soul felt empty.

My real passions for surfing, nature, exploration, music composition, and travel were constantly pushed aside due to financial constraints and sheer exhaustion, I moved around the country and Europe, but at the end of the day when you feel like you’ve been to war, cut, battered, and bruised, 

even the simple prospect of picking a guitar up on an evening

can feel like an impossible feat.

Enough was enough, apathetic of the mental stress and the fear of constant injuries that would oftentimes be serious, 

resulting in weeks laid up in bed, change wasn’t just needed, 

it was absolutely essential.

This is when I met Monique, we instantly hit it off and became great friends, we were both in exactly the same headspace and began brainstorming ideas. 

With my background in music production, DJ'ing, photography, videography, sound design, video editing, and my passions for travel and ecology, we decided to make a 180 and take the plunge and set up the 

Digital Nomad Network.

Our concept is simple, visit and stay in all of the beautiful places we always wanted to, make a comfortable living away from the monotonous Rat-race, while helping like-minded folks do the same.

Life is short, and as far as we know, we only get one shot at it.

It’s of paramount importance  to live your best life, 

experience what this world has to offer, and to witness first-hand 

the wonders of this amazing planet we live on. 

Take a deep breath and think where you will be in 5 years if you keep on doing the same thing, and paradoxically where you could be if you give it a try,
